We’re delighted to share a sneak preview of photographs taken by Growing Lives participants as part of a special photography project.

The photographs were taken in and around Ilkeston and Derby over the summer as part of a project called Change the Picture. We delivered the project in partnership with QUAD and their ‘Creative Wellbeing’ programme, which aims to provide opportunities for engagement in cultural activities to support inclusion and encourage participants to take control of their own personal, emotional and social pathways.

Change the Picture took people with experience of homelessness through a six week course to learn photography techniques. Photographer Jon Legge worked with participants, teaching technical skills and also showing how the camera can be used as a powerful tool to document and share personal experiences.

The photographs will soon be on public display at a venue in Ilkeston – but this is your chance to see them online first.

The project was supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
